Booking and Arrival
On which days can we arrive?
Any day of the week: we do not have a set arrival or departure day, enabling you to make use of cheaper mid-week flights.
At what time may we check in?
Check-in is after 16.00h and check-out before 11.00h. If the timing of your flight means that you arrive early we will always try to help if there is a cottage prepared, however at busy times this will not be possible. It is also why we need you to observe check-out times as we need time to clean and prepare for the next guests’ arrival.
What linen is provided?
We provide sheets, duvet covers, pillows, tea towels, and bath towels, which are changed weekly. They can be changed more frequently for a small charge. Pool/beach towels are not provided, but may be hired for a small charge.
How many beds do the cottages have?
The two-bedroom cottages sleep four with the option of an extra bed in the bedroom or sitting room, suitable for a child up to the age of 12. We also have one two-bedroom cottage which sleeps five with a bunk bed. The one-bedroom cottages sleep two, but some have the option of using a sofa bed. There is an extra charge for sofa beds.

How is the kitchen equipped?
There is a microwave oven, a gas stove, fridge, saucepans, crockery, cutlery and glassware. There are also smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in each kitchen.
What is provided in the cottage?
The cottages are self-catering and so although we provide a few basic items to get you started (coffee, sugar, oil, salt and pepper, toilet rolls) you are expected to provide all food and non-food items that you require.
Are there laundry facilities?
There is a washing machine for communal use and it costs 4€ per load.
Do the cottages and restaurant have wheelchair access?
There is wheelchair access to the restaurant, but for the cottages please check before booking.
What sort of heating is there in the cottages?
For the winter months there is a wood-burning stove in the sitting room and an electric heater in the bathroom of each cottage. All cottages have reverse-cycle air conditioning which provides either heating or cooling. Meter cards are available at a cost of 5€.
Is the swimming pool heated?
No, but you can normally swim between April and October.
What is the pool depth?
The shallow end is about half a metre and the deep end two metres. The pool is 12 x 6 metres.
Swimming Pool Safety
The pool has a security fence which is 1.2 meters high and has self-closing gates. It is designed to the latest security standards but parents are nevertheless reminded that they must be vigilant at all times.
What activities are there for children?
Swimming, mini golf (crazy golf), table tennis, football area, swings, slide, table football, boules and darts.
Are the bedrooms dark?
Yes, there is no need to bring blackout blinds as there are shutters at the bedroom windows.
Do you have high-chairs, stair gates and cots?
Yes, there are high-chairs in the restaurant and some available for guests to use in the cottages. Some cots are also available, but must be pre-booked. Stair gates are available where there are stairs, please check before booking.
Do you have special facilities for babies?
Yes, we have several cottages specially equipped for babies and toddlers. Please see our Babies to Toddlers to Teens page.
Can I buy my normal nappies and baby food in Spain?
Many nappy brands are available, such as Pampers, which are sometimes called Dodots or Dodotis. Huggies Pull Ups are available and Huggies nappies under the name Huggies Monbebé.
Formula milk powder, including Nestlé and Milupa brands, is sold in pharmacies though it is wise to bring plenty of your own brand as product varieties may vary. Fresh milk is available but most people use UHT due to the problem of keeping it in high temperatures.
Spare teats and bottles, wipes creams etc are available from Pharmacies.
Can we eat in the restaurant?
Yes, of course, and you will always be given priority when booking. The opening times are shown on the restaurant page.
Can we buy takeaway food and drink?
Yes, we will be happy to provide any items from the menu for you to consume in your cottage. We also offer special rates on wine to takeaway.
Are children allowed in the restaurant?
Yes, of course children are welcome in the restaurant. There is a playroom inside and we also have a children’s menu.
How far are the shops?
In Periana, 1.5 km away, there are supermarkets and other shops (baker, butcher and fishmongers). There is a major supermarket and other shops near Torre Del Mar.
Is there a doctor in Periana?
Yes there is a health centre in the Town Hall building and they will see visitors. EC residents should have their relevant documents with them, including a European Health Insurance Card. There is also a 24 hour medical centre at nearby Viñuela open every day.
Is there a chemist nearby?
Yes, opposite the Town Hall in Periana.
When are the shops open?
They are normally open Monday to Saturday, from 8.00 to 14.00h and then 17.00 to 20.00h. Closed Saturday afternoon and Sunday. If you are arriving late at night or on a Sunday and would like us to prepare a “survival” pack please let us know, we usually need seven days’ notice. The restaurant is open on Sunday until 15.30h.
Is the water safe to drink?
We do not advise that you drink the tap water, it is more prudent to drink bottled water.
Are you “Green” at Cantueso?
We try very hard to be and support responsible travel, and have taken several measures to ensure that we (and you on holiday) are as green as possible. Please see our latest efforts to be environmentally friendly.
Do you allow dogs?
Yes, after consultation, however no aggressive or noisy dogs are welcome. There is a charge of 5 euros per night.
